Updated January 7, 2009
Tuesday, January 6, 2009 - Crushing Blow

Paddled out into a pre-dawn, glassy, peeling 4-6 foot Honoli'i surf session. The Point was breaking at second reef, where big lumbering mountains of water were being tamed by standup paddle surfers. The inside tribe were content with the smaller sets and dodging the big bombs that dropped by from time to time. Me? I was across the channel at Mids, enjoying some long lefts that would wind over a sand bar (recently deposited from the last big storm that also brought snow to the summits of Maunakea and Maunaloa). It was the second day on my new 8'2" squashtail thruster Crush (who happens to sport bold orange panels) and I was liking what Crush was offering. Same template as Kermit, but thinner and with more nose and tail rocker, and glass-on fins.
