Did the Sun Have Siblings?
Michael Connelley, Institute for Astronomy graduate student

The Sun is a lonely star, a bachelor in space with only a few pieces of rubble to keep it company. However, most stars live thier lives dancing with a partner as they orbit the galaxy. Was the Sun always alone, or did it grow up in a family only to seek it's own fortunes among the stars? Come learn about what the latest research is telling us about how stars form, and how stars like the Sun ended up as bachelors. We will also explore why Mauna Kea is a premier site for the study of star formation, especially if you're a graduate student.
