Dark Energy and the Runaway Universe - Dr Alex Filippenko
It was a dark and stormy night, but that didn't keep nearly a hundred people from venturing in to witness University of California Berkeley astronomy professor Alex Filippenko give a riveting AstroTalk on Monday, November 15th. Despite an introduction that called for Filippenko to speak about "Tropical storms in the Pacific that can ruin a perfectly good observing run on the Keck Telescope", folks hung around for a captivating talk about his work on Type 1a Supernovae and the evidence they provide for the accelerating expansion of the universe. The questions from the audience were very insightful and seemed endless, as the event lapsed well into the evening.
