| Over a hundred people came out to the University of Hawaii at Hilo to hear seven astronomers and physicists talk about potential astrophysical perils that may confront us on long and short term scales. Presentations on black holes, killer asteroids, exploding stars and colliding galaxies were delivered by panelists Gareth Wynn-Williams, Robert Jedicke, Jeff Kuhn, Joshua Barnes, John Learned, Michael Liu and Nick Kaiser. In all, this was a wonderful way to close out a very successful AstroTalk year in Hilo, and we would like to thank Craig Mori and Pacific Sound, Robert Chi, UHH Physics and Astronomy Department, Katie Whitman, Ben Berkey, Nathan Huisman, University Astrophysics Club members, Koa Ell, David Bock and Peter Sur of Hawaii Tribune-Herald, DC and B97 radio for their help and support of our programs all year long. Mahalo nui, and we look forward to an even bigger program next year! | ||||||||||
