| It is one of Nature’s most beautiful and awesome sights: green and crimson curtains waving, flashing, dancing in the night. Powered by particles from the Sun, shaped by the Earth’s magnetic field, and colored by the gases in the upper atmosphere, the aurora borealis and australis have mystified some of history’s greatest scientists.
