Explosive Events in the Early Life of Stars
Colin Aspin, UH 2.2m Telescope Director

The processes that take place in the formation of stars like our Sun are sometimes extremely violent.  Such explosive events are relatively rare but when they do occur often result in the both dramatic increases in brightness and large changes in observed characteristics.   In this talk Aspin will review the nature of these explosive events, their role in the star formation, and show recent results on some interesting young stars obtained with Mauna Kea telescopes.
