Left: Over 200 people stuffed themselves into the UH Hilo UCB 100 lecture room for the Deep Impact Hilo outreach program, which featured a panel of NASA representatives, astronomers from Mauna Kea, and a UHH astronomy professor. There were five other classrooms opened, and subsequently filled past capacity.
Below: UH Institute for Astronomy graduate student and Hilo Astronomy Club (HAC) member Michael Connelley and HAC president Dave Brennen went up to the summit of Mauna Kea and took these images before evening. They also acquired the CCD images and made them available to our live audience. You can see some of them here.
