Hawaii College and Career Fair 2005
November 16-17, 2005 • Hilo Hongwanji Sangha Hall
The IfA and the Visitor Information Station (VIS) shared a booth at the 2005 Hawaii College and Career Fair. The VIS student staff and volunteers added another dimension to our outreach by talking about the great program at the mid-level facility on Mauna Kea. The first night brought out many parents and their children, while the second day saw students bused out by their schools. There were several teachers and counselors trolling the aisles as well, and we were able to identify them and discuss visiting their classrooms or having classes visit our facilities.

Along with our fun demos, we offered astronomy magazines, Mauna Kea tabloids, UHH undergraduate astronomy program flyers, and a flyers on careers in support of astronomy.

We had some help from Hazel Butler and Anne Michels from the VIS, and Koa Ell on the first night.
