AstroDay 2K6 Highlights
AstroDay featured over 40 exhibits, demonstrations and activity areas throughout Prince Kuhio Plaza, including the observatories on Mauna Kea, Educators, Students, Hawaiian culture groups and commercial vendors. Musical performances by Divina Maria Medeiros, Joe Marquand, Cliff Fujiyami and Grammy Award winners George Kahumoku Jr, and Keoki Kahumoku. The AstroDay Excellence in Teaching award was presented to Waiakea High School science teacher Dale "Science is Fun" Olive. AstroDay featured scholastic robotics with teams from around the island - with a Botball Grudge Match Tournament. Here is a potpourri of images for your perusal.

Excellence in Teaching Award Presentation
The AstroDay Excellence in Teaching award recognizes Hawaii Island K-12 teachers and university professors whose creativity and enthusiasm engage students in science curricula in exciting and meaningful ways. This year's recipient is Mr "Science is Fun" Dale Olive of Waiakea High School. Congratulations Dale, and mahalo to the Department of Education (DOE), the Hawaii Island Chamber of Commerce (HICC) and the Japanese Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Hawaii (JCCIH) for their support of this award.
