Koa Ell, Community Outreach Assistant at SEPO has developed a workshop that involves a short presentation on King David Kalakaua and his support of science and interest in astronomy, followed by an activity that involved the students building telescopes and using them to observe pictures of planets and record their observations. Koa presented two separate workshops for 4th graders of Waiakea Waena Elementary School and the 6th graders of Hawaii Academy of Arts and Science.
