St Joseph Country Fair 2006
The Imiloa Astronomy Center exhibit was very popular throughout the day
Saint Joseph Country Fair, October 7, 2006
The astronomy community came together for a joint presence at the St Joseph Country Fair. Subaru Telescope, Joint Astronomy Centre, Visitor Information Station (VIS), Gemini Observatory, Imiloa Astronomy Center and the UH Institute for Astronomy shared a 20' x 80' canopy tent under mostly sunny skies.

The VIS had displays and a mirror grinding station, Subaru Telescope offered coloring activities, and the Gemini Observatory demonstrated the Hands-on Optics activities The UH Institute for Astronomy brought a tank of helium, black balloons, glue and glitter to demonstrate the expansion of the universe with help from our friends at the VIS. There seemed to be many more people attracted to the "astronomy tent" than in years past - a tribute to the clever ways our friends on the mountain have engaged the public through interactive outreach.
