Volcano Meets Saturn
February 10, 2007 • Kilauea Military Camp, Volcano
The IfA SEPO, Kilauea Military Camp, and UHH Astrophysics Club had a great time entertaining a crowd of 80+ attendees on the night of Saturn's opposition. KMC provided cookies and beverages while Gemini Observatory Astronomer, Dr. Scott Fisher, gave an inspiring presentation about geology and astronomy on Mauna Kea. After a day full of rain and vog, the clouds cleared up just in time for IfA's Mike Connelley and Josh Walawender to set up a few telescopes focusing on the fully illuminated planet Saturn. A good time was had by all, and plans will definitely be made for another Hawaii Volcanoes National Park star party!
